ALL AMERICAN SELECTIONS (AAS)
The Garden Door was selected to be an AAS Display Garden beginning the summer of 2025.
AAS is a non-profit organization that conducts trials of new ornamentals, perennials, and vegetables. It was founded in 1932 and is the oldest independent testing organization in North America.
Awards are given in four categories:
The trial judges are volunteer horticultural professionals. The varieties that are voted the best performers in AAD Trial gardens are declared AAS winners. They conduct trials on an ongoing basis and announce new winners each year.
What are AAS Display Gardens?
Nearly 200 botanical gardens, arboretums, colleges, universities, cooperative extensions, etc. across the country that display recent AAS winners. The purpose is to educate the public about why they are top-performing varieties.

- Non-seed Ornamentals
- Edibles
- Perennials

- Volunteers must be willing to learn the AAS story and be able to teach and educate garden visitors
- Garden should have education and community outreach as part of its mission
- Garden must plant the AAS winners in highly-visible, high-traffic location
