What We Do

The Garden Door display garden is designed and maintained by the Door County Master Gardeners to showcase a variety of garden types and gardening techniques. It is free to the public and open every day from dawn to dusk. Group tours are available upon request.

The DCMGA Annual Plant Sale, held in the spring each year, is the primary fundraiser that supports our display garden and free educational programming.  Master Gardener Volunteers grow annual flowers, vegetables and herbs in the greenhouse, select perennials and pollinator-friendly natives, and provide expert planting tips at the two-day event.

DCMGA provides educational programming and hosts guest experts on a variety of topics from managing invasives to soil science and garden design. Our Lecture Series and Growing Together programs are free and open to the public. FAQs and additional resources are available at dcmga.org.

Master Gardener Volunteers are on a mission to provide community service.  They make an impact at locations throughout Door County by working with youth, seed sharing and saving, developing demonstration gardens, growing and harvesting food, and rehabilitating and maintaining gardens for local non-profit organizations.

The Door County Seed Library is a collaborative community program of DCMGA that offers free seeds through Door County Library branches and at special events. By promoting biodiversity through educational programs, seed sharing and seed saving, we aim to help people become successful gardeners. Let's grow together!

Door County Master Gardeners provide thousands of hours of volunteer service and participate in hundreds of hours of continuing education.  But we are not all work and no play! Membership has its benefits including member garden tours, summer safaris, and other social events.
