The Garden Door
Although we were given clearance to work in The Garden Door, the garden was in need of a tremendous amount of work before we could again welcome visitors. Unfortunately ,we have concluded that we could not complete the necessary work in time to reopen The Garden Door this year. Therefore, we closed The Garden Door is closed to the public for the remainder of 2020. It is our goal to have the gardens ready next spring so that everyone can enjoy this special place. We apologize for any inconvenience this decision may have caused. The Garden Door opened in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin Peninsular Agricultural Research Station which is a few miles north of Sturgeon Bay on Highway 42. The garden is designed and maintained by members of the Door County Master Gardeners Association. It has a fairie garden, double kaleidoscope, pond with koi, a children's play area, pollinator garden, memorial tunnel, ornamental grass area with bottle trees, wences, annual and perennial beds. To the north you will find a community garden where the Door County Master Gardener Volunteers and Research Station and UW Extension staff can plant and harvest crops each summer.
